Our team has been assisting Blackburn homeowners for many years. Blackburn is a quiet suburb due east of Melbourne, based midway along the Belgrave & Lillydale train lines. It is about a 30 minute drive from the CBD and sits between the Eastern Freeway (M3) and the Burwood highway.
Like many neighbouring suburbs it was originally founded as orchid and farmlands, but this eventually gave way to brickworks and quarries, until it finally evolved to the enchanting suburb as it now appears. Blackburn has a small shopping strip near the train station, along with a library and multiple sporting fields located at Moreton park.
The suburb is also home to the aptly named Blackburn Lake sanctuary, which was founded in 1889 as an artists retreat, and was home to many famous Australian artists including Frederick McCubbin. It is still a popular destination to this day, particularly on weekends, attracting many visiting families to use its nature walks, playgrounds and barbecue facilities.
